Wayne County-5th Best For Farm Profitability

Farm Futures magazine recently rated 6 North Carolina counties in the top 10 for overall farm profitability in the NATION. Incredibly, 5 are within arm's length of Goldsboro! Wayne county ranks 5th overall with other surrounding counties being Sampson, Duplin, Wilson, and Greene Counties. Here is the criteria from the NCCE:

Farm Futures magazine examined more than 3,000 counties in the United States, using data from the past Census of Agriculture. They were not looking for which counties produced the most agricultural products or which counties had the largest number of farmers. They looked specifically at profitability. The factors they were looking for included return on assets, net profits per farm, sales growth, asset growth, profit growth, asset turnover, and profit margins.
